Biography

 

Candice Mckoy is a New York based actress and filmmaker. She is from the wonderful island of Jamaica, where she saw her first play as a young girl and instantly got the acting bug. Her gift for the arts propelled her to a nomination for the Audelco Award and her membership at The Actors Studio. A featured lead in several theater productions for the Actors’ Playhouse, Portland Stage Company, and more, Candice brings a vibrant and moving persona to each of her roles. Her acting career is lifted by her desire to bring life to characters of great strength, vulnerability, and humor in stories that provoke, entertain, and capture the hearts of her audience. She received her MFA at the American Conservatory Theater. Candice is a champion of acting, writing,and producing. She is currently in pre-production for her film “The Turning Point,” a story that promises to capture the complex intersections of love, sexuality, and family illness. Candice successfully combines her talents and emotive spirit to deliver a realistic human experience of breast cancer diagnosis that is sure to resonate deeply with an audience. Between her gravitas, deep emotional reservoir and comedic talent, Candice Mckoy offers grounded and powerful performances.
